Feltmark Privacy Policy

A private, on-device journal for noticing how you feel.

Effective date: October, 2027
Last updated: October 4, 2027

This policy explains how Feltmark (the “app”) handles your information. The short version: your journal stays on your device. Feltmark has no accounts, no servers of ours, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. Information leaves your device only when you explicitly choose to export or share it.

Summary

Information the app stores

Feltmark stores the content you create so the app can function. This data is kept locally on your device (in the app’s on-device database) and is not transmitted to the developer:

Feltmark does not collect your name, email, contacts, location, device identifiers for tracking, or any advertising data. The app has no user accounts.

How your information is used

Your information is used only on your device, to provide the app’s features: recording how you feel, calculating factual statistics (counts, percentages, intensity summaries, trends, and associations) directly from your entries, and preparing reflections and reports you can review and, if you choose, share. Feltmark describes what you recorded; it does not diagnose conditions, provide medical or therapeutic advice, or draw clinical conclusions.

On-device intelligence (reflections)

When you enable AI reflections and your device supports it, the wording of a reflection is generated using Apple’s on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). This processing happens on your device or through Apple’s private, Apple-controlled processing; Feltmark does not send your entries to the developer or to any third-party AI service for this. On devices that don’t support Apple Intelligence, or when it’s turned off, the app falls back to a plain, non-AI summary computed from your entries. Availability and data handling for Apple Intelligence may vary by iOS version, device, and system configuration, and are governed by Apple’s own privacy terms.

Exporting and sharing

Feltmark can create exports and reports (for example, CSV data, a JSON backup, or a PDF report to discuss with a therapist). These are generated on your device and are shared only when you initiate it, through the standard iOS share sheet, to the destination you choose (such as Files, Mail, or Messages). Once you share or export data, it leaves Feltmark’s control and becomes subject to the privacy practices of wherever you send it. Reports include only the entries and sections you choose; original notes are not included in a shared report unless you enable that option.

Purchases

Feltmark offers an optional one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase (“Premium Reports”). Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Feltmark never receives or stores your payment card details. Whether you own the purchase is determined on-device from your App Store transaction history; the app does not keep a separate record of your purchase on any server of ours. Apple’s handling of purchase data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Notifications

If you enable reminders (such as a weekly reflection nudge or a daily prompt to revisit saved entries), these are scheduled as local notifications on your device. They are not sent through a remote push server, and their content never includes your entry text.

App Lock

You can optionally require Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode to view your history, reflections, and settings. This authentication is handled by iOS; Feltmark does not receive or store your biometric data.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device, you control it. You can delete individual entries (with a recently-deleted recovery window), reset report settings, or delete the app entirely. Deleting the app removes its on-device data from your device. Any backups you created and stored elsewhere, or data you previously exported or shared, remain where you put them and are under your control.

Children’s privacy

Feltmark is not directed to children under 10, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information on any server, there is nothing for the developer to access or delete.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, noting the change in the app’s release notes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
